A small fee is added to cover transaction costs to ensure we receive the full amount for each item purchased. For example, if you're purchasing an item for $1, you will need to contribute $1.05. This extra 5 cents covers the fee, ensuring that we receive the full $1.

The total cost for a $5 item is $5.26, which includes a 26-cent fee. If you're purchasing something for $10, you would need to pay $10.53, which includes a 53-cent fee. The fee scales with the amount, so for a $100 purchase, you would need to contribute $105.26 to cover the $5.26 fee.

In short, we charge a small fee to cover transaction costs, so the total amount paid will be slightly more than the item’s listed price, but it ensures that we receive the full amount needed to support the cause.
