OKH Band - Friends of the OKH Band

Each year the OKH Band program goes through a number of expenses as part of the normal operating costs of running the band program (money for new sheet music, money for reeds, value-oil, mallets, and drumsticks, money for instrument repairs, etc.). We also try to offer students several opportunities to experience live music, at no cost to the student (annual trip to WKU’s Symphonic Band, Louisville Orchestra concert, WKU Honor Band, EKU Honor Band). The cost alone for buses is $1.75 per mile, so the cost for buses alone on a trip to Bowling Green, KY and back is over $300 (this doesn’t even begin to cover the costs of registration or tickets for these events). We cover the costs of all students getting to go on these trips so that those with financial difficulties do not have to miss out on these opportunities. For this reason, fundraising is extraordinarily important this year. 

This year the OKH Band program is raising money through a new fundraiser: The Friends of the OKH Band Program fundraiser. For as little as $5, each donor will be recognized by name on each of the OKH Band concert programs throughout the year. If a parent/grandparent (or any other family member, friend, teacher, community-member, business, etc.) wants to give a few dollars to support their student’s band program, their name will be listed at the corresponding level of their gift; if a business wants to give a few dollars to show it’s supporting the Arts in Nelson County’s schools, the business name can be listed. The size of the donation will determine the size of the font the person/business’s name will be shown at, with printed recognition beginning with as little as $5 donated.

If there is anyone that you know that would be willing to make a donation to the OKH Band program, please share this with them; no gift is too small, and all are deeply appreciated. If someone wants to donate, they need to write in the space below how they want their name (or their business name) to appear in the program, along with their donation amount. The sizes of printed recognition are scaled based on donation size; donors of at least $50 or more will be verbally recognized during each OKH Beginning Band Concert. We can accept checks or cash or credit/debit card payment through this electronic storefront.; checks should be made out to OKH Middle School Band, and money should be collected as soon as possible. 

Our goal is to raise at least $1000, which is just enough to cover our basic yearly expenses. This works out to about $25 raised per student, and anything beyond that will help towards repairing and replacing instruments that no longer work.
