Mathathon 2023

We are excited to announce our annual Math-A-Thon Fundraiser. Not only will students be actively engaged in academic work to increase math skills and to prepare for end-of-year testing, but we will also be working as a community to support our school.

The money earned from this fundraiser will be used to fund up to two field trips per year per grade level. In addition, the proceeds will be used to fund our annual World Night festival. Each year, we hire artists in residence to teach dance from their ancestral cultures to our students. This years artist include retuning instructors from the Polynesian culture of New Zealand and the Punjabi traditions of India. We are welcoming two new instructors which we hope to keep ongoing relationships with from Africa and Mexico. The funds also go toward purchasing costumes and additional entertainment for World Night. We have used your generous donations in the past to purchase the bleachers which we utilized for the first time last year.

The students in grades K-5 will complete 100 math problems appropriate for their grade level during the week. Every child will have the opportunity to correct any mistakes before turning in the assignments, allowing all students to achieve 100%.

To add incentive to the fundraiser, students will receive prizes for participation.  All students who complete the 100 math problems will receive a prize for participating.  Additional prizes will be awarded for collecting pledges at the $10.00, $30.00, $50.00, and $75.00 levels.  A Mad Science Assembly will be the grand prize. This will be awarded to the 50 students who collect the most in pledge money.
